Unexpected Execution: A Callback to My Old Days

Unexpected Execution: A Callback to My Old Days

Today felt like any other busy day at work — new responsibilities, tight schedules, and a to-do list that left no room for a proper lunch break. I was so immersed in the new scenario that even my usual lunchtime at 2:00 PM had to be reconsidered. As my stomach reminded me of its rights, I casually mentioned going for lunch. But one of my colleagues nudged, “Wait until 1:30… someone important is coming. You can go after that.”

His words were curious. Someone important? My mind wandered — “Could it be someone from my old workplace?” With that light thought, I continued working alongside him.

Then came the callback.

A cheerful voice filled the air:

“Hello Guys! Meet my friend Senthil.”

I turned around, and to my utter surprise — it was Mr. Senthil Kannan, my former boss, mentor, and the very person who had once referred me to this current job.

Time froze for a second. A warm flood of old memories rushed back. I wasn’t just seeing a previous colleague — I was meeting the person who had once led, mentored, and believed in me during a significant phase of my career. His familiar smile, his joyful tone — it all felt like a sweet page torn from the past and gently placed into today.

His greeting wasn’t just kind — it was overwhelming in the best possible way.

I found myself sharing the moment proudly with my colleagues. “He’s my former boss. I worked under him!” I said with genuine joy. It’s rare to get these small but precious moments in life, where the past walks into your present — like an old function being called again in a completely new environment.

 The “Callback” That Life Offers

In the world of programming, a callback is a function that’s executed later — when a certain event occurs. It might not be immediate, but it shows up when it's meant to — bringing context, value, or joy back to the surface.

Just like that, life has its own callbacks.

They arrive unexpectedly. They surprise you. And they remind you how far you’ve come — and who helped you get there.

💖 My Takeaway Today:

Let life call back the beautiful memories when you least expect them. Welcome them with a smile, embrace them with gratitude, and let them energize your present.

That one encounter — just a few moments — was enough to bring light to my entire day. With a full heart and a smiling face, I continued working, now reminded that every step I’ve taken has a story. And some stories still have callbacks.

🤝 Because life, like code,
It never forgets what shaped you.
